Design your Header and Footer Banners
The Header and footer are banner style strips that run along the top and bottom edge of the screen. They are intended to make the white label system appear like it is part of your website therefore they should reflect your company’s colours and branding.

There are several methods you can use to create your banners. We will have a look at these methods below.

Using our Online Banner Designer

From your White Label control panel you can access a fully functional online html editor that will allow you to quickly create and deploy your own headers and footers.

When the banner designer opens you will first need to click the ‘Create New Banner’ button to start a new design:

The editor consists of a preview window and a range of controls at the top of the screen. Click on the link below for an explanation of what function each tool performs.

Click here for information on the toolset

The preview window has three modes, Normal, HTML and Preview. The Normal mode allows you to dynamically change the visual elements through a WYSIWYG interface (What You See Is What You Get). If you are familiar with the HTML language then you can also edit the source code for the page by switching to HTML mode. The Preview mode is designed to provide a realistic rendering of how it will appear within a web browser. Importing a web page

If you are already proficient using another web editing tool such as Dreamweaver of Frontpage then you may wish to use one of these applications to create your banners then import them into the system. We have included a web import tool to dynamically retrieve a copy of any web page on the internet, all you need to do is upload your banner to your website and enter the URL into the import box. The import tool automatically resolves resource paths and loads the HTML into the online editor.

Email the HTML code

Similar to the abovementioned importing process you may wish to create the banners on a familiar html editor and email us the code and any dependant files. We will then upload the banners to your White Label account.

Banner Design Tips

Here is a list of tips to help you create the perfect banners:
Keep the height of the banners to a minimum, particularly with the header. Ideally the banners should not exceed 100px as excessively thick banners will push the relevant content down the screen this can be an issue with individuals running at lower screen resolutions.
Avoid html, head and body tags. It is advisable to avoid using these tags as the html for your banners will be embedded in a full html page already containing this markup.
Using CSS Stylesheets. You can include a CSS stylesheet in your banners however please ensure they do not override the global settings that control the appearance of your White Label system, these include background, margins, alignment etc.
Reference all images and resources with full/root paths. It is important to ensure all resources used within your html page are correctly referenced. If you create your own html then you must include a full virtual path to each resource.
Ensure HTML is well formed. All html tags must be well formed and in the correct case. If the html is not well formed then this may interfere with the page layout. It is also good practice to use current html formatting standards to avoid browser incompatibilities.
Use high quality compressed images. To ensure that your banners look professional it is important to use high quality gif or jpeg images. Avoid resizing the document in html as this will cause the image to look pixelated.
