Let's start right at the beginning by having a look at exactly what you will need to set up a limited company:
A Company Name. It is possible to register almost any name providing it hasn't been previously registered by another company.
One Director. An individual who will act as director for the company (The director cannot also be the secretary!).
One Secretary. An individual who will act as a secretary for the company.
One Shareholder. At least one person willing to buy a single £1 share in the company. (a share holder can also be a director or secretary).
Memorandum of Association. This will define the objects of the company. (An example is provided in the template pack).
Articles of Association. This document declares how the company will be run, including the division of profits and passing of resolutions (An example is provided in the template pack).
Companies House Form 10. States the first director, secretary and the address of the registered office (Supplied in the template pack).
Companies House Form 12. A declaration that must be signed by the director or secretary of the company agreeing to abide by the legal requirements relating to the incorporation of the company (This document must be signed in the presence of a solicitor who may charge £5 - £10).
Form 88(2) This form is used to allot the shares amongst the company shareholders.
A £20 Fee. Payable to the Companies House for registration of your company.
